GOLYMPICS

"Golympics aims to give supporters the opportunity to try and adopt new sports, increase their physical an social vitality and therewith create a legacy for a more vital world."

Even though the Olympic Games are about sports, a lot of supporters are not active during this period. For this reason the Japanese National Sports Agency wants to create an atmosphere that encourages people to be active in sports with the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. The vision of the Olympic Movement is to encourage and support the organization, development and coordination of sport and sports competitions. The aim of this project is to utilize the Olympic Games of 2020 in Tokyo to lower the threshold for sports participation, in order to create a legacy that results in more vital nations.

Concept

Golympics is a mobile application concept where supporters all over the world can become part of their National Olympic Team and compete against other countries. For this reason Golympics introduces three new medals; most vital country, most variety in sports and most participants. These medals can be won only with the help of the supporters in a country by trying out new sports and being active. By practicing sports during events and ‘collecting’ sports in the application, a person is able to contribute to the National Olympic Team on a recreational sports level and bring their country closer to winning one of the new medals. The Golympics platform can be an official part of the IOC app connecting local sport events, clubs and amateur athletes tot the Olympic Dream. Local sports clubs, cities or companies can create sport events and reveal this in the Golympics app. Individuals can sign in to these events and can participate and try out new sports.

Creating a competition between the supporters can make them more active during the Olympic Games. Furthermore, people have the opportunity to try out new sports. This may result in finding a new passion and a subscribing to a local sport club.
